As an ICF-certified coach, I follow the ICF Code of Ethics in full, including Standard 2.1 which requires me to “maintain the strictest level of confidentiality with all parties involved”ICF. Before we begin, we’ll co-create a Coaching Agreement (modeled on the ICF Sample Coaching Agreement) that clearly defines:
What stays confidential: All information you share—whether verbal or written—is protected, unless you provide written consent to disclose.
Storage & disposal of records: I store your session notes and materials securely and dispose of them in line with ICF Standard 2.4 on record-keeping and privacyICF.
Exceptions to confidentiality: In line with ICF Standard 2.3, disclosures are only made if required by law (e.g., court order) or if there’s an imminent risk of harm to you or others.
